1970 AQHA Sorrel Mare

aka "Fina"

"a faithful heart and true..."

Fina being patient with me while I prepare for a beginning dressage test at Spring Down Farm,

Portola Valley, CA circa 1978.

Fina gave us several foals, but none could replace her:

Old time foundation breeding, heavy on the Peter McCue, with a little Three Bars and Poco Bueno

Picture above taken at BlackHawk Ranch when it was a cattle and horse ranch;

before they planted hundreds of McMansions all over it.

Fina was my childhood dream come true. My first horse, purchased when I was in college, from a

wonderful gentleman cowboy in Soulsbyville. She was only two years old, untrained and without much

human contact. Vern handled her and rode her in a bosal for two weeks before I picked her up. We had

many adventures together and I spent every moment possible with her. She became my first broodmare

once I embarked into breeding quarter horses and gave us beautiful babies.

Fina was sold to make way for a show horse but she continued to give beautiful babies to her new owners.
